Pastoral Search Committee News

Congratulations on a job well done!

On Sunday, June 14th, the church voted unanimously to call Pastor Kenneth D. Fuller as our minister. Pastor Fuller is currently serving Cleveland Park Congregational United Church of Christ in Washington. See the Minister's Page.

The search committee has had the pleasure of getting to know each other through regular meetings, a canoe trip and dinner, a Meyers-Briggs workshop, and carpooling to neutral pulpits. The amazing thing about our committee is that each member chose a role that was a natural fit for his or her unique talents and experiences.

Keith Gregorian-Michaelsen has kept us focused and on-track as our committee chairman.

His perspective as the son of a minister has been invaluable. He and Nick Noyes tapped their engineering experience to help us create a rating system to evaluate candidate profiles and interviews.

Carol Randolph has served as our chaplain. She has opened our committee meetings with beautiful and enlightening prayers, book passages, or group activities that reflect her background as a Christian education director and a librarian. In Carol’s absence, Charlie McDougall has offered lovely opening and closing prayers. He was able to use his well-honed detective skills to get a truthful picture of each candidate from their listed references.

Nora Howard has applied her writing talent by keeping detailed and accurate meeting minutes. Her extensive knowledge of local traditions, customs and architecture has provided the committee with a rich historical perspective. Rob Inglis has served as corresponding secretary. His gregarious personality made him the ideal person to keep in touch with our applicants and to lead the telephone interviews of our finalists.

Maura McQuade and Sarah deSimas have served well as our youth representatives. Their honest opinions, brilliant insights, savvy computer research skills, and infectious energy and enthusiasm have been a blessing to our team. Finally, I’ve been able to put my advertising and copywriting skills in action by keeping you updated as the search committee’s publicist.

We hope that as a congregation, you have felt as if you were sharing in the search experience with us. Each of is honored to have been given this incredible opportunity.—Lorrie McElligott
