Living the Questions
A new program starting in February

Rev. Martha and Jennifer deSimas will be leading a new study group starting Monday, February 6th at 7:00 p.m. The program will be repeated on Tuesdays starting Tuesday, February 7th at 1 p.m. Living the Questions, a DVD-based program, features sermon clips and conversations with leading theologians and sociologists; concrete spiritual practices (e.g., lectio divina, body prayer and journaling); and follow-up discussion time. Based on the idea that faith is a journey and not a destination, Living the Questions encourages participants to explore what meaningful faith looks like in today’s world and provides a safe environment for open discussion. We hope that you will join us for this exciting new program! The group will meet every Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday at 1 p.m. (with some exceptions) for seven weeks.

Footsteps to the Future

The first workshop held in October centered around the history of our congregation and the changes we encountered. During the remaining workshops we will be considering such things as the many changes that have taken place in the world and in the life of the church over the most recent decades, the core values, mission and ministry of the church, effective communication, and the potential skills most needed for effective pastoral ministry with ACC. These topics are significant ones for congregations preparing to seek new pastoral leadership. In June, following the completion of this series of workshops, the congregation will be forming a Search Committee for that very purpose. Please plan to attend these events, and be part of the process of “preparing the way” at Avon Congregational Church.
