Search Committee Sept/October 2008

We are still waiting for surveys to be completed and returned. The final deadline is October 15, 2008. Since our congregation currently numbers 379, we hope to receive about 100 to 125 surveys to represent at least one third of our membership. So far, we have collected about 25 to 30 responses. We sincerely appreciate the thoughtful answers we have received. To those members who have not yet responded, we encourage you to do so in the coming weeks. Remember that we cannot place an ad or ask for applications until we have finished writing an accurate Local Church Profile.

There are a total of 4 search surveys. ►Link to Surveys When completed, hard-copy surveys may be mailed to the church or placed in the Search Nook desk drawers.

The It’s All About You! Survey (light purple) is the only survey that we require ONE PER FAMILY. This is because it asks about the demographics of your particular family. If more than one person in the family responds with the same information, our percentages will be skewed.

The other 3 surveys can be filled out by multiple members of your family. Couples may jointly or individually fill out the Expectations for the New Minister Survey (yellow), the It’s All About Faith Survey (green), and the Big Picture Questionnaire (blue). In addition, older children, who are confirmed and living in the same household, may also participate in these 3 surveys.

All the surveys are available in the Search Nook of Fellowship Hall or on this web page. Follow the links on on this page to find surveys that you can: a. Fill in and submit on line through Survey Monkey, b. Fill in and print in Word format, or c. Print in PDF format and fill in by hand. Please note: There are only 3 links that take you to the Survey Monkey on line surveys. This is because the Big Picture Questionnaire is located at the end of the Expectations for the New Minister Survey. If you would like to take them separately, you still may. The software is very smart. It will guide you to the unfinished part when you log in again.

Search committee members are diligently incorporating the answers from the hand written surveys into the Survey Monkey software. The software will help tabulate all the responses and generate percentages. Plus, everything will be typed and organized in one place.

1. If you would like to complete the surveys electronically, use the following links. Like the printed versions, you can do the on line surveys at your leisure. Answer some questions now and some later. The software is very smart. You can revisit the survey on line, and finish the questions you didn't answer. All responses will automatically be emailed to the chair of the Search Committee. The Big Picture Questionnaire is at the end of the Minister Expectations Survey in the on-line version

2. You can print the surveys and complete them by hand or on your computer by using the following links. You can return them by placing them in one of the drawers in the Search Nook in Fellowship Hall.

3. You can pick up paper copies of the surveys at the Search Nook. You can return them by placing them in one of the drawers in the "Search Nook" in Fellowship Hall.

4. You can respond to "The Big Picture" Survey by writing in the notebook in the Search Nook, which contains the comments from other church members.
