ORLANDO PRAYER VIGIL
In kinship with all who grieve the tragedy in Orlando, we at Avon Congregational Church will open our doors and our hearts on Thursday, June 16th from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. to anyone seeking a sacred space for personal prayer, meditation, or to sit with someone else who honors your grief. LGBTQ, Muslim, everyone is welcomed and cherished here. Know that you are loved.
Congratulations on being the first church in the Valley to use the clickable Google inside tour. Thank you to the Support Ministry Communications Team and the Welcoming Ministry, Spread-the-word Team, but also to the congregation and others who helped make this possible. Congratulations to the congregation! We have achieved yet another milestone at ACC. Other churches in the Farmington Valley have a few inside snap shots, but no other Valley church has attempted to do what we accomplished on Sunday. We are the first to adapt the so called Google Business View to a church setting feeding off of Google Maps Street View. What will be especially unique is that the clickable inside tour will show people in worship and in fellowship instead of empty chambers. The photographer said that we can expect to see the results sometime in July. Be sure to spread-the-word about this first for our church whenever you talk to anyone about ACC. Besides the virtual tour, we will have access to numerous still photos that show off our church and its prime rooms. Be sure to check with Bob Burke or the church office for the many possible applications including web site development, brochures, newsletters, framed picture gifts and on and on.
Office Hours: During the months of July and August the Avon Congregational Church office will be open Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. The office will be closed Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please feel free to leave a voice mail message or send an email; we will respond as soon as possible.
Summer Pledges: If you are planning to be away from the church this summer, please consider mailing in your checks over the summer to keep your pledge current. It will help cover routine expenses like utilities, insurance, supplies and payroll. Many members have switched over to using their bank’s bill pay service (usually free) to schedule their pledge payments over the summer and it saves them a check and a stamp. ~ Beth Ferrari, Treasurer
