Rally Day – September 11th!  We’ll welcome families returning from their summer adventures and officially welcome our new Interim Pastor, Donna Cassity. Church school registration forms are available in Fellowship Hall or from Jennifer Egan.

Join us on Monday, September 12th at 6 p.m. in the ACC kitchen to make our Marvelous Meatloaf for Loaves & Fishes soup kitchen in Hartford. This is one of their favorite meals! An ingredients list is posted on the bulletin board by the nursery in the main hallway and monetary donations are also accepted (checks should be payable to ACC with “Stone Soup” in the memo section). If you have any questions, please contact Susan Elliott at 860-658-0863.

Rummage Sale Captains Meeting – Calling all captains from this year’s past sale and other interested volunteers to discuss plans for 2017. Please plan to meet on Tuesday, September 20th at 7 pm in the church library.  Please RSVP to Beth Ferrari at BethFerrari@comcast.net.

Yahweh and YogaYoga classes will begin again on Monday evening, September 26th. Meditation from 6:15 - 6:30; yoga from 6:30 – 7:30. Please join us for stretching and scripture. See Betsy Van Loon if you have any questions.

The Avon Congregational Church’s popular First Friday monthly dinners kick off on October 7th from 5:30 pm. to 7:30 p.m. with an autumn favorite, succulent meat loaf made from scratch.  This classic comfort food will be paired with oven roasted herbed potatoes, vegetables, beverages and a homemade dessert bar. A portion of the dinner proceeds will go to the Heifer International “Gift Ark” project.  A Gift Ark donation goes around the world, from Africa to Asia, Europe and the Americas to help end hunger, poverty and hopelessness by providing animals, training and encouragement. The dinners are $13 (adult) and $7 (child 10 and under). Diners may purchase tickets at the church office, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., or at the door.  Dine in or take out. Call the church office (678-0488) or email for more information.

Our New Minister, Pastor Donna, wants to get to know us!
Please remember to create a short write-up about yourself and either drop it off or mail it to the church office, or email it to Denise Beeney, our church secretary at:  secretary@avon-church.org. Please include a photo if possible, but include some fun things about yourself you think Pastor Donna might like to know about you.

Update on Pastor Donna’s Email AddressPastor Donna’s new email address is pastor@avon-church.org. Please update your email listings if you have used any other email address for her.

Congratulations!  Dave and Sue Crowther have a new grandson, Ty Anthony Martin. Ty was born Wednesday, September 7th. He weighed in at 7 lbs. 12 oz. Proud parents are Beth (Crowther) and Matt Martin.

Would you like to help a 3rd grader be a successful reader?  Please consider joining our tutoring team! We help students on a weekly basis at Gaffney School in New Britain during the school year. We typically meet to carpool at 1 p.m. and are back in Avon by 3:30 p.m. If interested, please see Beth Ferrari at coffee hour.

A Message from Gifts of LoveCurrently Gifts of Love does not have any children’s clothing in its bins. A lot of families are away on vacation right now, but they are trying to assist clients with clothing to start the school year. If you can help, they would be most grateful. Please drop off items at the WACC church office, ACC fellowship hall or at Gifts of Love at 35 E. Main St. in Avon. Please contact Nancy Carlson at NCarlson@giftsoflovect.org if you have any questions.

Are You an Amazon Shopper?  Remember to log on first to Smile.Amazon and select ACC as your designated charity, and then start shopping!  The church will receive .5% of your purchases as a charitable donation from Amazon.  Everything about the website is the same as the regular Amazon site.
