Volunteer opportunities

Salvation Army Bell Ringing
Saturday, Dec. 16,  9 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Avon Walmart
Our tradition of supporting the Salvation Army of Hartford and local social services agencies continues by our volunteering to spend one day ringing the bell.  We are looking for volunteers willing to sign up to ring for one hour. Right now there are openings from 1-6 p.m. on the signup sheet, which is located on the bulletin board in the main hallway.

Our church’s sense of calling and mission has led us to an active ministry to the community and region as well.

Church Members have

  • re-settled several refugee families by completely equipping an apartment for the family,
  • supported several local food pantries, and have assisted the Loaves and Fishes pantry by cooking meals once a month,
  • supported Covenant to Care’s "Adopt a Social Worker" Program, Gifts of Love, a battered women's shelter, and Avon Social Services,
  • joined with other churches and Simply Smiles to provide disaster assistance, restore homes, and travel to South Dakota to improve the conditions of the Lakota people on their reservation,
  • prepare a monthly First Friday Dinner which is open to the whole community.

At ACC there are many ways to help in community projects by donating your time, talent and dollars where you will experience "fellowship through service."
